Brands that are not 100% cruelty-Free
At Free The Bunnies, in order for a brand to be 100% cruelty-free, it cannot be owned by a parent company that tests on animals. Whenever a product is purchased, the parent company gets some of that profit, and you are technically supporting whatever practices the parent company chooses to allocate your dollars to. With SO many 100% cruelty-free brands available today and companies’ understanding of how important it is to be cruelty-free, there’s no need to support ANY BRAND that fully isn’t.
Below is a list of brands for men that are cruelty-free but they have been acquired by non-cruelty-free parent company Edgewell Personal Care. So, they unfortunately do not follow the Free The Bunnies standard.
- Jack Black
- Harry’s (soon to be acquired)
- Personna
- Bulldog
You can read more on Edgewell’s animal testing policy *here* where they explain how the brand performs animal testing on products where required by law.
Other brands for men that are not 100% cruelty-free:
The brands below are not cruelty-free because they either test on animals on their own or where required by law.
- Gillette
- Schick
- Edge
- Redken
- Philips
- Braun
- Remington
- Dove for Men (Read more on their PETA cert and why it is VERY misleading)
- Axe
- Bic
- Degree
- Equate
- Gold Bond
- Just for Men
- Nivea
- Old Spice
- Oster
- Panasonic
- Speed Stick
- Suave
- Cremo – They are cruelty-free but cannot verify that their ingredient suppliers don’t test on animals.
With the list of 100% cruelty-free brands for men above, you can find literally any personal care product a man needs. It’s truly amazing that anyone can shop 100% cruelty-free, especially because some of the brands are so easily accessible. Next time you shop, you may be surprised how many brands on the cruelty-free list you find in your local department or drugstore.
