Updated 11/18/2019
From Kat Von D to Rihanna to Jessica Alba, celebrity beauty brands are popping up everywhere. It can be difficult to keep track of which ones are cruelty-free or vegan. Even with the cruelty-free movement on the rise, it doesn’t guarantee that celebrities are taking it into account when creating their brands.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that celebrities *want* to test their products on animals. There are many ways a brand can be considered not cruelty-free, besides directly testing the ingredient/product on animals themselves. The brand could not be able to completely verify their ingredients are cruelty-free, or they could sell their products in mainland China, where all products are subject to animal testing.
Below is a complete list of celebrity beauty brands. I have stated which ones are considered 100% cruelty-free by the Free The Bunnies standard, and which ones are not with the reason behind it. If I have been unable to verify whether or not a brand is cruelty-free with the brand directly, I have put them under the grey area list.
Cruelty-free Celebrity Brands
All brands listed below are 100% cruelty-free, including their parent companies.
- Nuance by Salma Hayek
- Juice Beauty by Alicia Silverstone
- Illuminate by Ashley Tisdale
- Circa by Eva Mendes – 100% Vegan
- Kora Organics by Miranda Kerr – 100% Vegan
- KKW Beauty by Kim Kardashian-West
- Flower Beauty by Drew Barrymore
Grey Area List
The following brands have been placed on the grey area list because I have not been able to get sufficient information from them regarding their cruelty-free status. If I am able to verify whether or not these brands are cruelty-free, I will remove them from this list.
- Iman Cosmetics by Iman
- Meaningful Beauty by Cindy Crawford
- Goop by Gwyneth Paltrow
NOT Free The Bunnies Approved Cruelty-Free
The brands listed below are owned by a non-cruelty-free parent company, which makes them not 100% cruelty-free per the Free The Bunnies standard.
- Fenty Beauty by Rihanna – Owned by Kendo (Owned by LVMH, Tests)
- The Honest Company by Jessica Alba – Owned by Clorox (Tests)
- Kat Von D – Owned by Kendo (Owned by LVMH, Tests)
- Kylie Cosmetics – Recently acquired by Coty (Tests)
I will continue to update this list as more celebrities create beauty brands (because, let’s face it, there will be more haha!) and if I get updates regarding the brands already listed. Is there a celebrity brand you would like to see on this list? Let me know in the comments below! And be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest as well us subscribe to our newsletter for the latest cruelty-free beauty updates.

Looking into zero plastic this year. What about some “earth friendly” brands, Etee, etc.? TY and keep up the good fight!!
I don’t think Clorox owns Honest Company.
After the acquisition with Unilever fell through, they replaced their CEO with the CEO of Clorox. I made a note of it in case consumers did not want to support a brand who is in business with a company that tests on animals. I hope this helps!
Wow very interesting I was surprised by the honest company! Super important info with all the brands popping up,thx.
You’re welcome! 😊💖
